Types of Insulation Covered

Mass Save covers various insulation types depending on your home's needs.

Attic Insulation

  • Blown-in cellulose or fiberglass
  • Target R-value: R-49 or higher
  • Air sealing at penetrations included

Wall Insulation

  • Dense-pack cellulose
  • Minimally invasive installation through small holes
  • Fills empty wall cavities completely

Basement & Crawl Space

  • Rigid foam board or spray foam
  • Rim joist insulation included
  • Helps prevent frozen pipes

Air Sealing

  • Seals gaps around pipes, wires, and ducts
  • Weatherstripping for doors and windows
  • Reduces drafts and improves comfort

Energy specialist visits your home to assess insulation and identify air leaks using blower door test

Receive a detailed report with recommended improvements and rebate amounts

Choose Contractor

Select from Mass Save approved insulation contractors

Installation

Contractor completes work and files rebate paperwork on your behalf

Pay Net Cost

You only pay your portion - rebate is applied directly

Stack with Federal Tax Credits

After your Mass Save rebate, you can claim an additional 30% federal tax credit on your remaining costs through the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C).
